So to start using TripIt, all you really need to know — seriously, this is it — is their email address: plans@tripit.com. […] — just forward the email confirmations from those services to that address, and the TripIt application parses the information for you and sets up an itinerary.
Subtraction: Email As a Bridge or a Wall
Brilliant article focussing on the use of Tripit, a web application that doesnt require you to be on / in the site to use it. Letting people interact from their email client is a real and oft untapped opportunity. how about not having to visit facebook when you recieve a message in order to mark it read (even though you have already viewed the message in the email you recieved), and instead just replying with a blank message to indicate the item as ‘read’ or even better yet, if the facebook meassage email notification system just worked from read receipts.
why should it be no-reply@domain.com, if the web is about 2 way interactivity?
