Googlepedia for Chrome Released!

Chrome extension which replaces the ads on a google search result with the wikipedia search result for your query. Adapted from the firefox extension, which rocks my world.

Googlepedia for Chrome is now here! The installation is still rough round the edges since Chrome doesn’t yet have proper extension management features. It should be fairly straightforward though.

How to install:

  1. Download Chrome Channel Switcher
  2. Change your channel to ‘Dev’
  3. Click wrench menu in Chrome, click ‘About’ then ‘Check for updates’, wait for the update to install
  4. Restart Chrome
  5. Download Googlepedia for Chrome
  6. Open the file (it appears like nothing happens)
  7. Close chrome, then open it again with the command-line parameter ’ —enable-extensions’ (you can do this by right-clicking the Chrome icon, clicking properties and adding it to the end of the ‘Target’ field, without the quotes, but with the space at the start)
  8. Do a search on Google, Wikipedia should be on the right! :)
