Andrio Abero has a new website! Well actually it’s probably not that new now, but I haven’t checked out his work for a little while. Such a talented chap, with a stunning array of work, and some super cheap screenprints.

the typography and texture of these posters is superb, i’m particularly enamoured with Andrio’s Bjork Poster

How Much Do Music Artists Earn Online?
Increasingly worrying infographic showing just how many sales / plays a solo artist would require to earn the US minimum wage. I’d be interested to see how a direct sale from the apple iTunes store would situate on this chart. More than ever, what we are seeing here is necessity of touring and playing live shows.

After HTML 4.01, the next revision to the language was called XHTML 1.0. The X stood for “eXtreme” and web developers were required to cross their arms in an X shape when speaking the letter.

No, not really. The X stood for “eXtensible” and arm crossing was entirely optional.

A Brief History of Markup - chapter 1 HTML5 For Web Designers.

I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy of HTML5 For Web Designers - A new book written by Jeremy Keith and published by the newly formed A Book Apart.

Loremify is a one-click tool to copy Lorem Ipsum. It lets you wrap in html, specify the amount of text, and copy it to your clipboard—all in one click. It runs as a Dashboard Widget in Mac OS X, and is a mere 400kb download. (via esquareda)

must have widget. Depending on where on the buttons you click will change the amount of words copied. Smooth

Probably one of my favorite software companies of all time, Panic Software have released Version 4 of their awesome (osx) ftp client Transmit. It sports a whole bunch of new features ranging from huge speed increases and a totally refreshed UI, to mountable ftp drives (a’la expandrive).

I have been lucky enough to be involved with the beta testing for the last 2 - 3 months, and I can say the outstanding effort and development behind this project should make for a fantastic release. Existing Transmit users will find a lot of the previous ui conventions changed, so it takes a bit of getting used to - dialogs and menus have all been hidden away to make for a more minimalist styled experience.

If you are still mucking around using cyberduck or the like, I urge you to purchase a transmit license, you won’t know yourself afterwards.

Congratulations to the team at panic, although i’m sure their work isn’t over for the night yet…

This promo for Cultured Code’s Things for iPad is spectacular. I wouldn’t be surprised to see this run on air.

Let’s go make some lists!

yeah, this vid is pretty cranking. Looks like the size of ipad display has finally made page transitions cool again. Time to party like its MS Power Point 1999!

Soaka - New typeface by Jackkrit Anantakul available on YWFT

“Look out, Clark W. Griswold, because Soaka just parked on your front lawn. Soaka is the grotesque, raw, country cousin of our slab serifs Motown and Lollop, and brings the pain when you’re facing down those rough Cobra Kai design jobs. “

for 24USD this is pretty much a steal, and be sure to check out that sample pdf. yummmm

I think planes should come with personal recorders in each seat so in the event of an impending crash, the passengers have a chance to save their parting message into the black box.

Processing guru, Robert Hodgin (Flight404) writes up the history of his flight 404 website, detailing his inspirations, changes during the dotcom / flash era, and experimental concepts resulting in a $3000 server bill, what appears to be one of the first instances of an alternate reality game, and an interview with the NY Times.

I will say that i’ll miss the days of a purely conceptual website, maintained for fun, delving into the experimental graphic and programming nature of flash, catering only to the whims of the author, with no regard or care for accessibility. Just pure unadulterated digital creation.
These days appear to be gone now, or perhaps I dont hang out in the same digital circles, now it seems i’m stuck flicking through portfolios of wonder-kids digitally letter-pressing their way onto my rss feed and into design jobs.
